I got very sick following generic health advice that was not healthy for me. I was adding "healthy" high-oxalate foods like spinach, beets, and almonds to my diet. I had moved into a wonderful neighborhood with lots of walking trails and community events, but the house had hidden mold. My body was trying to tell me something was wrong, but I did not listen for a long time because I thought I was doing the right things to be healthy. When I finally started paying attention and turned a skeptical eye towards my "healthy" diet and home, everything changed. I discovered I was particularly sensitive to oxalates and mold, which my body was being bombarded with, thanks to my "healthy" diet and home.
After reducing oxalates in my diet and reducing mold in my home, I went from having no social life and thinking I was going to have to quit my job to spending lots of time with family and friends and working more hours than I ever have before, because I want to. I spend time on things like this course because I believe too many people are sick due to blindly following generic health advice, and I want to teach as many people as possible how to figure out what is healthy for them, just like I figured out what is healthy for me. My method focuses on identifying potential stressors, taking charge, and trusting your inner scientist. You take back control over your health and create a wellness plan that is right for you.
I have a MS in Nutrition, PhD in Food Science, and am a Certified Building Biology Environmental Consultant. After recovering from my own health challenges by changing my diet and environment, I started helping others do the same. I found the method was consistent, but the diet and environment changes needed were different for everyone.

For at least two years I found myself suffering from what can be described as brain fog. Even after a restful night of sleep I would often awake with a groggy, head in clouds feeling that would last through a lot of the day. My blood tests were considered normal and I was told that I was just getting older and that it was part of menopause. I set out to improve my diet with lots of healthy proteins, vegetables and fruit. While I did find other symptoms improving the brain fog was not. While consulting with Katie I made a list of foods that I eat on a regular basis. Daily, I would consume spinach, carrots, celery and many kinds of beans. Katie explained that these foods are high in oxalates which can be a problem for some. My brain fog symptoms and others we discussed could possibly improve by slowly eliminating high oxalates foods from my diet. Who knew? I thought I was fueling my body with wholesome and healthy foods. Katie helped me formulate a plan and timeline to begin eliminating high oxalate foods. I’m happy to say that the brain fog is gone. I now wake up feeling refreshed after a good nights sleep and have been able to start exercising again. I’m excited to continue working with Katie on my journey to optimal health.
I have been to numerous doctors and only after working with Katie have I begun to feel better. All of my doctors approve of Katie’s recommendations even though it is mostly out of their usual area of expertise. She has explained the role of histamines and why I need to avoid them. My eyes had been swelling for several years and at times my entire face. I no longer eat cured or fermented foods. My eyes have greatly improved and as an extra bonus I have lost weight. She is wonderful!
My wife Carolyn and I have had sleep issues for a few years. Katie visited our home to help us. She determined that we have RF issues - Radiofrequency. Our Wi-Fi router was the problem. We now turn off the router 1 hour before bed. Our sleep has improved noticeably. We have 7-8 hours quality sleep each night. Thanks Katie!
I want to thank you again for the detailed electric, magnetic, radio and dirty electricity inspection that you performed on my home and my son’s home where I visit frequently. My hope is that you can share this email with other electromagnetic hyper-sensitive (EHS) people who are looking for answers.
I found you professional, well-trained, focused and knowledgeable. The upgraded equipment that you used was reliable and pin-pointed even the smallest objects emitting radiation such as my blue tooth electric toothbrush and the GOVEE smart humidity/temperature sensor. I remain amazed that these small items impacted my health without my awareness.
You are very organized, as evidenced by your detailed notes, the summary report and solution guidelines that you provided at the end of each inspection. Your report provides me with a baseline that I can recheck as I gradually make the changes/improvements that you suggested.
There are always new and unexpected issues that can arise at every inspection. I so appreciated that whenever there was a question, you sought advice from a more senior Building Biologist.
Most of all, I appreciate your respectful and supportive demeanor. Living in an EHS world can cause isolation, judgement from others and depression. We are a small but growing (sadly) population and we need professionals like you to guide us.
